What is Scouting?
Scouting is a worldwide movement that helps young people develop physically, mentally, emotionally, and morally. Founded on the principles of leadership, community service, and outdoor skills, scouting aims to teach values such as integrity, responsibility, and teamwork. The core mission of scouting is to help scouts become self-sufficient, thoughtful, and engaged citizens who are prepared for life’s challenges.
How Does It Work?
Scouting is built upon the Scout Oath and Scout Law, which emphasize qualities like trustworthiness, loyalty, kindness, and bravery. Every scout commits to living by these values in their daily lives, contributing to their personal growth and strengthening their community.
The Patrol Method emphasizes small, youth-led groups, and is central to scouting’s structure. It fosters leadership and decision-making skills, allowing scouts to take responsibility for their patrols’ success.
Why Choose Pack 611?
Pack 611 is the only Jewish cub scout pack in New York City.
What does that mean?
Your child can take part in the Scouting Program, and all the learning and experience that comes with it, while deepening their Jewish identity and deep connection with, and commitment to, Israel.
Your child will be around other kids and adult leaders who come from diverse families and backgrounds, but who are inextricably tied through faith and ideals.
We welcome and respect families from all faiths and backgrounds on the understanding of mutual respect and friendship.
